——————————

StuDocu was founded on the principle that equal access to study notes reduces inequality between students. We make it easy for students to share notes. The product was a rocket ship from day one, and has shown strong product-market fit on every continent, making us a key player in the exploding EdTech space. We just received a $50 million series B investment so we’re in rapid growth and scale mode, and we need serious talent to help us make it happen.

The key to StuDocu’s rapid growth is the SEO-fuelled viral loop at the centre of the product: the more study materials students add, the more keywords we rank for, and the more students we acquire through organic search; the more students we acquire, the more study materials they add. SEO is such a vital part of the business model that we’re building a dedicated team to tackle the unique challenges of trying to improve rankings for tens of millions of pages at once.

We need a growth-minded Head of SEO, with a keen commercial instinct and experience dealing with multi-million-page websites, to test and scale very advanced SEO tactics. The current priorities are all about optimising technical and on-page elements of our tens of millions of UGC pages, such as improving the time to index and running split tests to programmatically optimise meta tags and schema markup. However SEO is critical to many more parts of the product and there’s a very wide scope of opportunities for the ambitious. You’ll fully own the strategy and the budget, reporting to the VP Growth.

What you’ll be doing here

  • Lead the charge on all things SEO, defining the strategy, roadmap and budget for technical, on-page and off-page optimisations.
  • Conduct your own data analyses (and work with Data Analysts) to identify and prioritise opportunities based on impact to the bottom line.
  • Conduct regular audits, including sourcing and managing external auditors.
  • Coordinate 1-2 Data Scientists and a Data Engineer to develop smart solutions to scale-related problems such as limited crawl budgets, enormous data sets, programmatic meta tags and dynamic indexation strategies.
  • Work with Data Scientists in the Product Team to identify, test and scale new opportunities for machine-built content targeting valuable keywords and passive link building opportunities.
  • Coordinate the building and testing of on-page optimisations with your Data Scientists, a Product Manager and 3-4 Software Developers.
  • Work with our Content Marketer and 2-4 outreach agencies to identify the best opportunities and tactics for targeted link building.
  • Track and report on all important SEO KPIs, including competitor metrics.
  • Hire, onboard and lead SEO experts where you see opportunities to increase your own leverage.
  • Stay ahead of the curve and evangelise your vision of our SEO within StuDocu, making sure we integrate SEO best practices into all product decisions.
